About Purple House

We began 25 years ago with a knock-out exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW which raised over a million dollars. People from the remotest and most beautiful parts of the desert then used this money to develop their own organisation—one built on caring, compassion and determination.

Today, we operate dialysis services in 22 (and growing) remote communities across NT, SA and WA. We also provide Aged Care, Primary Health and Social Support programs, and operate a successful bush medicine social enterprise. We’re proud of our journey and excited for the next chapter.

About the Role

We are seeking a Malpa Support Worker to join our Malpa team in Alice Springs. Malpa is a Ngaanyatjarra word meaning “friend” or “companion,” and that’s exactly what this role represents — providing practical, day-to-day support for dialysis patients, their families, and people with complex needs.

You will work closely with the Wellbeing, Aged Care, Disability, NDIS and Clinical teams to support clients with transport, daily living tasks, cultural and social participation, and access to health services. The role also includes administrative and reception support as required.

This is a hands-on position that requires empathy, cultural curiosity, reliability, and a flexible approach to supporting people from diverse backgrounds.

*Please note: This is a full-time, female-identified position*

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide practical support for clients with complex needs, as directed by the Wellbeing Manager.

  • Assist clients with transport to and from appointments, social activities, errands, and cultural events.

  • Support clients with daily living tasks including shopping, banking, attending meetings, and personal care assistance.

  • Help clients navigate health services and advocate for their rights and needs across health, housing, financial, family, and cultural matters.

  • Work collaboratively with the Clinical Coordinator to ensure primary health needs are met.

  • Provide reception and front-office assistance including handling enquiries and patient requests.

  • Complete administration duties including record keeping, data entry, and electronic filing.

  • Promote a safe work environment and follow Work Health & Safety requirements.

  • Support general organisational activities and undertake other duties within capability.

About You – Essential Criteria

You will thrive in this role if you:

  • Have experience supporting people in Aged Care, Disability or community support settings.

  • Are patient-centred, compassionate, and an excellent listener.

  • Work well independently and know when to ask for guidance.

  • Can problem-solve and manage competing priorities.

  • Have strong communication skills and the ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal clients, families, and communities.

  • Are culturally curious and understand the value of community control.

  • Are resilient, good-humoured, and enjoy working as part of a team.

  • Have experience working in an Aboriginal organisation or remote context (or strong willingness to learn).

  • Are committed to quality improvement and safe work practices.

Required Qualifications & Checks

  • Experience in Social Support services.

  • Food Safety Certificate

  • National Police Check (within last 6 months or willingness to obtain).

  • First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain).

  • Current Full Driver Licence

Desirable:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or equivalent.

What We Offer

  • Attractive salary + 12% superannuation

  • Generous salary packaging benefits

  • 6 weeks annual leave + 17.5% leave loading

  • Additional leave entitlements

  • A warm, supportive workplace driven by culture, compassion, and community
