Carbal Medical Services is a leading Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation providing holistic, culturally safe health and community services across the Darling Downs region.

Established in 2002, Carbal is a not-for-profit organisation committed to improving health outcomes through respectful, community-led care that values culture, inclusion, and connection.

Through our Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), we assist older people to remain independent, safe, and connected to their community by providing practical in-home and community-based support services.


About the Role

Carbal is seeking experienced and compassionate Support Workers, Personal Care Workers, Assistants in Nursing (AINs), and Domestic Assistants to join our growing Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) team.

These roles support older people to remain independent in their homes and connected to their community through the provision of personal care, domestic assistance, social support, transport, and wellbeing services.

We are seeking individuals who are confident working independently, building positive relationships with clients, and delivering high-quality care in a community setting.


Key Responsibilities

Personal Care & Support

· Assist with personal care activities including showering, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
· Support clients with daily living activities and maintaining independence
· Provide social support and companionship
· Assist clients to attend appointments and access community activities

Domestic Assistance

· Provide household cleaning and domestic assistance services
· Assist with laundry and general household organisation
· Support safe, clean, and hygienic home environments
· Help clients remain independent within their own homes

Community Support

· Promote client wellbeing, independence, dignity, and choice
· Build positive and respectful relationships with clients and families
· Support participation in community and social activities
· Maintain accurate records and service documentation


What You'll Bring

Essential

· Demonstrated experience in aged care, community care, disability support, home care, personal care, or domestic assistance
· Ability to work independently within clients' homes and community settings
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Commitment to providing respectful, person-centred care
· Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability or Home & Community Care), Assistant in Nursing qualification, or equivalent industry experience
· Current First Aid and CPR certification
· Current Open C Class Driver Licence and reliable vehicle
· Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or ability to obtain
· Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card) or National Police Check
· Commitment to culturally safe and respectful practice

Desirable

· Experience working within a Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) environment
· Experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and communities
· Experience providing personal care, domestic assistance, transport, or social support services
· Medication assistance qualification or experience
